We Got What We Deserved? Excuse me?? Really???

I've quickly reached the point that pretty much prevented me from getting into blogs in the first place. It's called lack of time. So I'm going to keep this as brief as possible today by limiting my input and encouraging input from others.

Post a few words of your own here, or many, if so-inclined. And spread the word. That will go a long way to keeping this ball rolling.

The collective lack of time and money, were the major ingredients among volunteers who lost the battle last summer to keep Palm Beach County's Public WXEL FM radio station LOCAL. Local residents and supporters of WXEL fought for several years in many attempts to keep licensee Barry University in Miami Shores from inappropriately selling our WXEL TV and/or FM to an inappropriate new licensee. Professionals from Minnesota, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Tallahassee, and Washington... drawing paychecks, and with huge budgets, and many resources and manpower, finally won.

Carpetbaggers from St. Paul, MN, American Public Media, now hold the license to WXEL FM, which is now WPBI. Barry University in Miami Shores has pocketed a big, fat, check for selling a radio station license that they acquired at the expense of state and federal taxpayers.

The following text in yellow is an excerpt from an email I recently received from someone who lives in North Carolina and has made a living in the Public Broadcasting industry.

It has been said that every country gets the government it deserves. Perhaps every local community gets the public radio and TV services they deserve? West Palm Beach got WXEL to begin with due to great effort on the part of local people who wanted local public TV and radio. But the community -- especially the super-rich of Palm Beach -- were not willing to support it adequately to keep it local.
